- $2,026 Pledged
- 101% Funded
Boston Green Academy is looking for your help to install a Bottle Filling Station - a new drinking fountain that supplies HYDRATION and EDUCATION.
This system has the ability to educate students about sustainability while eliminating the financial burden and waste associated with the current Plastic Water Jugs.
“Thousands have lived without love, not one without water.” - W.H. Auden
Why Bottle Filling Stations?
Cloudy Waters. If students grow up in school drinking bottled water, how will they learn that Boston’s Tap water is safe and healthy to drink?
Money Down the Drain. BGA spends tons of money per year on bottled water delivery service. These are funds that could otherwise be invested in teachers and staff, supplies, and educational programs.
No More Waste. Bottle fillers encourage students to use reusable water bottles and significantly reduce BGA’s waste with no more plastic jugs and paper cups.
Awareness of Surroundings. Bottle fillers count the number of "plastic water bottles saved" to raise awareness about sustainability.
Cooler than Cool. Not only do they keep the water cold, they make drinking water look cool, a much healthier option than soda.
Clearing the Waters. Young people have been so heavily impacted by the bottled water industry that they believe water from the tap is "nasty." Boston recently won the AWWA’s national best tasting tap water award. Let’s take advantage of it!
How will the money help?
If we hit our fundraising goal, we’ll be able to procure and install a bottle filling station at BGA - a one time purchase that alleviates expenditures from our school’s budget.
